Joann Guay, Clinical Counseling Intern

Joann Guay grew up on the Connecticut shoreline and is excited to join the staff of Shoreline Psychological as a Clinical Counseling Intern. She is a graduate student at the University of Bridgeport where she is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Joann received her bachelor’s degree in Communications and Journalism from Central Connecticut State University. Joann has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In addition, she has provided individual counseling and group counseling, specifically an Intensive Outpatient (IOP) level of care, to clients receiving opiate replacement therapy. She recently attained her Counseling in Training certification with the Connecticut Certification Board and is currently pursuing requirements to become a Certified Addiction Counselor. Joann is grateful to be working in her hometown of Madison where she and her husband raised three sons.
