Katharine C. Bernstein, Ph.D.

Dr. Bernstein is a licensed clinical psychologist who first joined Shoreline Psychological in 2017 as post-doctoral fellow. She is passionate about delivering warm, compassionate, evidence-based treatments to individuals, families, and groups with a variety of mental health problems. Dr. Bernstein has training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment for young people who have experienced many different types of trauma. She also has experience with adolescent substance use disorders, particularly those that co-occur with other mental health problems, through her work at the CARES program at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Bernstein has also worked at the Village for Families and Children in Hartford, Montefiore Medical Center School Based Health Program, and the St. John’s University Center for Psychological Services.

Dr. Bernstein received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago, a master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her doctorate from St. John’s University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Village for Families and Children. Dr. Bernstein is fluent in Spanish and welcomes Spanish-speaking clients.
